THE WIND SYMPHONY OF SOUTHERN NEW JERSEY, founded thirty-five years ago by Lucien Cailliet as the Cherry Hill Symphonic Band, is a dynamic brass, woodwind, and percussion ensemble. Soloists as diverse as Stan Kenton, David Bilger of the Philadelphia Orchestra, "World Music" performer David Amram, and soprano Marie Robinson have graced our stage. The Wind Symphony has toured Austria and Great Britain. Our compact disc Jubilee contains several recorded premieres and some repertoire favorites. Our members hail from throughout the Delaware Valley and from diverse musical backgrounds. The Wind Symphony contains a Jazz Band, Brass Quintet and Woodwind Quintet. The Wind Symphony is a member of the Association of Concert Bands and is currently resident at Cherry Hill High School East in Cherry Hill, NJ.

DR. ROBERT J. STRECKFUSS is Artistic Director of the Wind Symphony. For twenty-two seasons it has been his vision and skill that has made the group into the pre-eminent exponent of symphonic wind music in the Delaware Valley. Dr. Streckfuss' scholarship in music for massed winds and his enthusiasm for the medium is our greatest resource. He creates fresh, exciting programs ranging from the 16th to the 20th century, covering chamber music to jazz. He has expanded the Wind Symphony's horizons with international tours and recording projects.

A euphonium player and trombonist, he holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the Catholic University of America and Bachelor's and Master's degrees from the University of Michigan. Dr. Streckfuss is Professor and Wind Ensemble Director at the University of Delaware. He has studied conducting with Frederick Fennell, Eugene Corporon, Elizabeth Green, and Alan McMurray. Dr. Streckfuss is active as a guest conductor and adjudicator.
